Zombie fans rejoice as Capcom has pulled back the curtain on the future of Resident Evil.

The company hosted a 17-minute live stream presentation on Thursday afternoon which began with a new look at Resident Evil Village, the eighth main installment in the long-running series, including the first look at gameplay. Highlights include a look at the looming castle seen in previous trailers, which protagonist Ethan Winters explores in search of his kidnapped daughter; character names, including Lady Dimitrescu, the mysterious woman dressed in while, as well as mentions of “Mother Miranda” and “Heisenberg.” The trailer also showed a few harrowing moments of combat against some of RE8’s signature spooks, while an inventory management system akin to Resident Evil 4 and a new crafting feature were also detailed.

Producer Pete Fabiano confirmed that RE8 will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on the same day as next-generation consoles. All versions of the game will be available on May 7.

PlayStation 5 users, meanwhile, will be receiving an exclusive demo, “Maiden,” in which the titular protagonist must escape a dungeon with no combat abilities. The demo launches Thursday, with a separate demo set to debut on other consoles in the spring.

The showcase also revealed Capcom’s plans for the franchise’s 25th anniversary, starting with a new multiplayer experience called Resident Evil Re:Verse. Re:Verse, available for free to anyone who purchases RE8, is a multiplayer combat game starring characters from across the Resident Evil franchise.

Other anniversary-related announcements included a quick look at the upcoming Netflix series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness and a partnership with Ubisoft which will bring RE-themed content to The Division 2.
